Program Goals

The Master of Arts in Biblical Studies degree program aims to equip lay leaders in teaching the bible or leading bible study ministry. It provides an advanced graduate degree for interpreting the Bible as sacred literature through an in-depth exploration of the various genres of the scriptures. After completion, students would acquire:

• the meaning of the foundational event to the identity formation of the first audience as God’s people; 
• an understanding of the biblical worldview as a foundation and discernment for Christian theology and spiritual formation; 
• approaches to reading different genres of the Bible.

Admission Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an institution recognized by LTS; and
• Applicants must have been baptized for at least one year prior to application for study; and
• Previous service experience in local churches or mission organizations; and
• Applicants should have the interests, aptitudes, and vision of bible teaching ministry; and
• The ability to engage in graduate-level study for academic pursuits and personal development.

Further Study

A Master of Arts in Biblical Studies degree holder can continue to study for the Master of Divinity / Master of Arts in specific emphasis / Master of Arts in Theology programs at LTS and credits can be exempted.
